The Marshall Mavericks closed out the non-district portion of their schedule with a resounding exclamation mark to the tune of a 41-0 stampede of Palestine.
The Wildcats received the opening game kickoff, but promptly fumbled it on their first play from scrimmage. Marshall took over at the 33....but wasn't able to convert it into points.
Palestine failed to get a first down on their second possession giving the ball to Marshall and the Mavericks cashed in with an 11 yard TD run by Alton Henderson for the 7-0 lead.
Another Wildcat fumble set Marshall up at the Palestine 27 yard line. The Mavs would cash in again to go up 13-0 early in the second quarter.
Things got no better for the visitors as their next possession resulted in an interception for Marshall. Henderson would then take a 29 yard jaunt to increase the Mav lead to 20-0.
Marshall put the game away on their first possession of the second half with a drive that ended in a score to make it 27-0 with 8:25 left in the third.
Palestine finally got their first first down of the game with 4:52 left in the third.
Yet another Wildcat turnover lead to another Marshall score to make it 34-0.
The Maverick bench then took over the game as clock ticked down. They would add a late score to make it 41-0 headed to the final buzzer.
