HUNTSVILLE ENDS MARSHALL'S PLAYOFF RUN ONCE AGAIN

The Huntsville Hornets ended Marshall's post season for the third time in nine seasons.

Marshall fell to the Hornet in 2018 in a 5A Region Semi-final game and again in 2019 in a Bi-district home playoff game.

They did it again Friday night as the Mavs struggled with their hobbled quarterback who was injured last week in the Whitehouse contest.

Marshall opened the game with a short drive that ended in a punt, giving Huntsville the ball at their own 42 yard line.

A quick QB keeper by the Hornets went 58 yards and a 7-0 Huntsville lead just 9:23 into the first quarter.

A defensive battle ensued from that point in the game as both offenses struggled to get anything going.

Both teams failed on fourth down attempts and both had some sloppiness with the ball.

The first half wrapped up with it 7-0 Huntsville.

The Hornets came out on fire in the third going on a 67 yard drive to go up 14-0.

The Mavs put together a strong drive....moving to the Huntsville 30, looking to cut the deficit in half. However, an untimely fumble ended the threat.

Huntsville made Marshall pay for the blunder, going on a 70 yard drive to take a commanding 21-0 lead with 1:47 left in the third.

Marshall finally got into the end zone in the fourth to make it 21-7, but it was too little too late with only 5:19 left in the game.

Denijh Montgomery had 165 yards on 28 carries. Alton Henderson was 4-19 passing for 28 yards and three carries for three yards and a touchdown.

Ashtin Sparks had 21 yards on three carries, Russell Crawford had one catch for 13 yards and Ernest Crookshank had two catches

for 17 yards.
