For the first time in recent memory, the Maverick basketball team failed to make the playoffs for two consecutive seasons. 

 

They  finished (2-10) in district play, just ahead of Pine Tree, who was (1-11).

Maverick Basketball has been one of the most consistent and successful programs at MHS, but it was a rough road for the men in red and white in 2022.

The Lady Mavs returned to the playoffs in 2022, revitalizing a program that has been on an upward trajectory for several years.  

​

They advanced to the post season to face a 20-win Lufkin team that's no strnger to the playoffs.

​

The Ladies hung tough, but fell short 43-37.
