MAVS & LADY MAVS DIAMOND ACTION IN FULL STRIDE
The Marshall Maverick baseball team got a hige home win Tuesday night over the Texas High TIgers 2-1.
The win improves Marshall to (2-1) in district play and (11-5) on the season.
This sets up a monster game this Friday at Maverick Field as they host the Longview Lobos, who are also (2-1) in district play.

The Lady Mav softball team continued to struggle with another blow out loss at the hands of the Texas High Lady Tigers.
Marshall finds themselves in an (0--5) hole for district play.
SPRING FOOTBALL IS IN THE AIR
MAVERICKS SET SPRING FOOTBALL SCHEDULE IN PREP OF '24 SEASON
The Mavs are headed into Spring football this season with the renewed fire of knowing they can hang with some of the the top teams in 5A.
Last November the Mavericks almost pulled off one of the biggest upsets in program history when they faced the #2 team in class 5A Division II in the second round of the playoffs.
Marshall had highly ranked Midlothian Heritage on the ropes headed into halftime as the Mavs had a 14-3 lead.
But the Jaguars came out on fire in the second half and seized momentum as they carried a 15-14 lead into the fourth quarter.
Heritage extended their lead to 21-14, but Marshall still had a chance with the ball and 1:58 left in the game.
The Mavs drove into Heritage territory, but came up short and fell to #2 Heritage 21-14 in a heartbreaking loss.
But that loss taught the Mavs that they CAN indeed compete against top talent when they put it all on the line.....and that will spring board them into drills this April.
Marshall will kickoff Spring practices on Monday April 22nd.
They will take the field every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 4-6PM. They will have drill on Fridays during the school day.
Drills will last until May 20th and will culminate with the annual Red and White game on Tuesday May 21st.
Jason Hammett is taking over as Head Football Coach and Athletic Director with the retirement of Jack Alvarez.
Coach Hammett came to Marshall with Alvarez in 2022 as a part of his staff.
The Mavs have finished either as the district champion or the district runner up every season since 2015 except for 2020.
Marshall last appeared in the 5A region semifinals in 2018.
