The UIL has traditionally had two East Texas 5A districts in all non-football sports. There has been a north district consisting of Mount Pleasant and Texas High and a south district consisting of Lufkin and Nacogdoches.
Marshall has bounced between the two districts ever since 2002, but that won't be the case for the 2024-25 alignment.
East Texas has only been given ONE district this time around, which means teams are scattered from the far north to the far south and from east to west.
Nine teams have been crammed into a district that stretches from Texarkana to Lufkin and from Marshall to Jacksonville.
The Mavericks have been reunited with old-time rivals Lufkin and Nacogdoches for non-football sports including volleyball, baskball, soccer, softball, baseball, and track (amongst others).
